We are so pleased to share that our consolidation with the Sonoma County Fire District was approved by the Sonoma Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) on May 6.  Effective July 1, we will formally become Sonoma County Fire District Station 9.  The consolidation will result in additional staffing at the Guerneville station to ensure that our ambulance AND our fire engine are both staffed with Firefighter/Paramedics.  Enhanced Paramedic availability is one of the biggest benefits of our consolidation for the communities that we serve.  Our Guerneville fire station will continue to serve this community, now with more staff on hand 24 hours a day.

We have been working hard towards consolidation for a year now.  In fact, for the past 10 months the Sonoma County Fire District has been providing Fire Chief and administrative support personnel services to us under contract since we do not have those positions in-house. Our partnership has been a great success and we are thrilled to finally join forces to provide enhanced services to the Russian River communities that we serve.

We wish to thank the many community residents and taxpayers who have been very supportive of our consolidation efforts. Your sharing of our vision for a more robust and sustainable fire and emergency medical service is greatly appreciated.

We will soon be planning a formal ribbon cutting ceremony for early July. Information will be posted soon on our social media and websites. We’ll look forward to celebrating with you this great step forward in keeping our communities safe and healthy.
